German Shepherd. General Appearance: The German Shepherd is of medium size, slightly elongated, strong, and very muscular, with lean bones and a solid structure. Its most important proportions are the height at the withers for males: from 60 to 65 cm, and for females from 55 to 60 cm. The German Shepherd must be balanced, with steady nerves, self-confident, completely relaxed and, unless provoked, good-natured, as well as attentive and docile. It must show courage, combativeness, and temperament to be suitable as a companion, guard, protection, service, and herding dog.
