It doesn't suffer from the cold, but it's important to provide a dry shelter during the winter. Adaptability to apartment living The Scottish Shepherd adapts to living in an apartment but loves the outdoors. Tendency to bark Occasional. Relationship with children Patient, attentive and protective, the Scottish Shepherd is the ideal playmate for children. Relationship with cats - Relationship with dogs The Scottish Shepherd gets along with other dogs, does not tend to be aggressive or dominant. Openness to strangers The Collie can be shy and wary of strangers: its protective instinct is highly developed. Watch ability Excellent watchdog: it barks when it senses danger or when a new person intrudes into its territory. Exercise needs The Scottish Shepherd needs to move and receive plenty of stimuli. Trainability Easy to train. Collies learn a command after a few repetitions, are eager to learn and tend to obey. These dogs are sensitive to pitch of voice, so harsh methods will definitely backfire. Grooming High maintenance: The Collie sheds its undercoat once a year, during the summer. The long-haired variety should be brushed carefully at least once a week. Intelligence -. Playfulness The Collie also tends to interpret training as a game. For this reason, it reacts better to positive reinforcement (such as cuddles or rewards) than to scolding and punishment. Health problems Hypoallergenic: NO.
